Message From Our C.E.O.

Dear Springs Family,

I am filled with immense pride as I reflect on the incredible achievements and moments that make The Springs of Arkansas truly special.

We are thrilled to announce that The Springs of El Dorado has been named one of America’s Best Nursing Homes by Newsweek for 2026! Out of thousands of nursing homes nationwide, we made the top 100—a testament to our unwavering commitment to exceptional care and the dedicated team that makes it possible.

This month also brought recognition to The Springs of Hillcrest—voted Best Nursing Home in the 2025 Readers Choice Awards! Even more remarkable, our Director of Nursing, Lesley Stuhr, was honored as Best Nursing Home Employee. Lesley, your compassionate leadership embodies everything we stand for, and this recognition is beautifully deserved.

Throughout our communities, we’ve witnessed the heart of what makes us exceptional. From the magical outdoor movie night under the stars at The Springs of Magnolia, to our staff and residents at The Springs of Broadway wearing pink for Breast Cancer Awareness, to celebrating our dietary teams during Dietary Appreciation Week—every moment reflects our commitment to creating meaningful experiences.

I want to especially honor Charlotte Stenger, our MDS Nurse at The Springs of Searcy, for an astounding 27 years of dedicated service. Charlotte, your legacy of compassionate care has touched countless lives and set the standard for excellence across our organization.

I’m also proud of Administrator Desi-Ray Thurman and Director of Nursing Teresa Radke for representing The Springs of Fairfield Bay at the Arkansas Health Care Association Conference, bringing back innovative ideas to enhance our care.

As we approach Halloween, our communities are preparing festive celebrations, and we’re especially excited about our Trunk or Treat events! These gatherings bring joy, laughter, and a wonderful sense of community to our residents, families, and staff.

To everyone who voted for us, supports us, and chooses The Springs—thank you. Your trust inspires us to deliver exceptional care every single day.

With gratitude,

Chaim Herzberg

Seniors’ Guide to Winter Wellness: Staying Healthy
All Season Long

Seniors' Guide to Winter Wellness: Staying Healthy
All Season Long

As temperatures drop and winter settles in, seniors face unique health challenges that require thoughtful preparation. Taking proactive steps now can help ensure a safe, comfortable, and healthy winter season.

Boost Your Immune SystemWinter brings increased risk of colds, flu, and other respiratory illnesses. Strengthen your defenses by maintaining a nutrient-rich diet featuring citrus fruits, leafy greens, and foods high in Vitamin C and zinc. Don’t forget your annual flu
shot and discuss the pneumonia vaccine with your doctor if you haven’t already received it.

Stay Warm and SafeSeniors are more susceptible to cold-related health issues like hypothermia. Keep your home heated to at least 68-70 degrees, and dress in layers when going outdoors. Invest in warm, non-slip footwear to prevent falls on icy surfaces, and consider using a humidifier to combat dry indoor air that can irritate respiratory systems.

Keep Moving IndoorsWhile outdoor activities may be limited, staying physically active remains crucial. Gentle indoor exercises like chair yoga, walking in climate-controlled spaces like malls, or simple stretching routines help maintain strength, flexibility, and circulation. Regular movement also supports mental health during darker winter months.

Stay HydratedMany people forget about hydration in winter, but it remains essential. Warm herbal teas, broths, and soups are excellent ways to maintain fluid intake while staying cozy.

Maintain Social ConnectionsShorter days and colder weather can lead to isolation. Schedule regular phone calls, video chats, or indoor social activities to keep spirits bright and ward off winter blues. With proper preparation and mindful habits, winter can be a safe and enjoyable season. Remember to consult your healthcare provider about any specific concerns related to your individual health needs.
